Family Academy of Management (FAM) designates a business as a "FAM Friendly Certified Business" based on an assessment of the following criteria: 

  1. Providing Flex time- freedom to alter work time or remote work when one’s child is ill

    • Sick child care days

    • Adult family member care

  2. Provides up to 16 weeks of paid leave for new child

    • Men and women eligible

    • Incentives for parents to take at least 6 weeks

    • Allows flexibility including splitting up time and easing back into full-time work Ensure time is used by male and female employees

  3. Lactation support for women, such as private areas

  4. Fertility treatment coverage

  5. Paid adoption leave

  6. Take child to work days

  7. Child care assistance such as subsidized child care cost or on site care

  8. Develop a policy of family friendly benefits and train managers to utilize and promote the policy (to ensure that the policy is hardwired into company culture)

  9. Leadership program

    • Mentoring programs

    • Networks for working parents

    • Professional development for new parent

  10. Wellness program

    • New parent counselling programs

    • Stress relieve advice and activities

    • Resources on diapers, formula and supplement etc.
